Wizz Air — official cabin limits
| Allowance | Max dimensions (cm — the airline's own figure) Second line: our conversion | Max weight |
|---|---|---|
| Free personal item | 40 × 30 × 20 cm≈ 15.7 × 11.8 × 7.8 in | 10 kg≈ 22 lb |
| Carry-on | 55 × 40 × 23 cm≈ 21.6 × 15.7 × 9.0 in | 10 kg≈ 22 lb |
How to read these numbers — Wizz Air publishes these limits in centimetres. The inch figures are our own conversion, always rounded down, never up. Airlines that print both units often print two figures that don't agree with each other — sometimes looser, sometimes stricter. When they disagree we go by the airline's own unit and round the other one down. Packing to our number keeps you inside the real limit.
What to expect
Wizz Air gives every passenger one free carry-on bag of 40 × 30 × 20 cm, up to 10 kg, that goes under the seat. A larger trolley bag of 55 × 40 × 23 cm, also up to 10 kg, is only included with WIZZ Priority, a paid add-on that lets you bring both bags into the cabin. Unusually, Wizz measures the size without handles and wheels, though the wheels may add no more than 5 cm.
Soft bag vs hard case
Wizz Air is strict and enforces size at the gate, but it measures differently from most: the 40 × 30 × 20 cm and 55 × 40 × 23 cm limits are for the bag body without handles and wheels, and the wheels may add no more than 5 cm. A soft bag that gives at the seams still helps, and both bags carry a real 10 kg weight cap, which is easy to reach once packed.
Boarding tips
- Every passenger gets the 40 × 30 × 20 cm carry-on free; the larger 55 × 40 × 23 cm trolley needs WIZZ Priority, a paid add-on.
- Both bags have a 10 kg weight limit, so weigh yours before you travel; exceeding size or weight is charged extra.
- Wizz measures without handles and wheels, but the wheels may add no more than 5 cm to the size.
- A neck pillow is not a separate free item; it must fit inside your cabin bag allowance.
- WIZZ Priority also adds priority check-in and boarding, so it is worth comparing against the single-bag fare.
