Volotea — official cabin limits
| Allowance | Max dimensions (cm — the airline's own figure) Second line: our conversion | Max weight |
|---|---|---|
| Free personal item | 40 × 30 × 20 cm≈ 15.7 × 11.8 × 7.8 in | Not stated |
| Carry-on | 55 × 40 × 25 cm≈ 21.6 × 15.7 × 9.8 in | 10 kg≈ 22 lb |
How to read these numbers — Volotea publishes these limits in centimetres. The inch figures are our own conversion, always rounded down, never up. Airlines that print both units often print two figures that don't agree with each other — sometimes looser, sometimes stricter. When they disagree we go by the airline's own unit and round the other one down. Packing to our number keeps you inside the real limit.
What to expect
Volotea includes a small bag of 40 × 30 × 20 cm free on every fare, placed under the seat. The larger cabin bag of 55 × 40 × 25 cm only travels in the cabin with Priority Boarding (from about 9 EUR) or Megavolotea membership; without it, bringing a cabin bag on board costs 65 EUR. The small bag and cabin bag together must not exceed 10 kg, or a 65 EUR supplement applies per item, per flight.
Soft bag vs hard case
With Volotea the size is fixed but the cost is not: the free allowance is the 40 × 30 × 20 cm under-seat bag, and the 55 × 40 × 25 cm cabin bag needs Priority Boarding or a Megavolotea membership to come into the cabin. The 10 kg limit is combined across both bags, so a heavy small bag eats into the cabin bag, and going over draws a 65 EUR supplement per item.
Boarding tips
- The small under-seat bag of 40 × 30 × 20 cm is free on every fare; only one small bag is allowed.
- The 55 × 40 × 25 cm cabin bag comes into the cabin only with Priority Boarding (from about 9 EUR / 10 USD) or Megavolotea; without it, a cabin bag on board costs 65 EUR (about 70 USD).
- The 10 kg limit is combined for the small bag and cabin bag together, not per bag.
- Going over 10 kg, or bringing a cabin bag without Priority Boarding, costs 65 EUR per item and per flight.
- Megavolotea members whose bag does not fit the overhead bins have it placed in the hold free of charge.
