How to read these numbers — easyJet publishes these limits in centimetres. The inch figures are our own conversion, always rounded down, never up. Airlines that print both units often print two figures that don't agree with each other — sometimes looser, sometimes stricter. When they disagree we go by the airline's own unit and round the other one down. Packing to our number keeps you inside the real limit.
What to expect
easyJet sits in the middle. The free under-seat bag is generous for a budget airline — up to 45×36×20 cm (≈ 17.7 × 14.1 × 7.8 in) and 15 kg (≈ 33 lb) — but size is checked at the gate and the under-seat fit is enforced. A larger locker bag depends on your fare, seat or membership.
Soft bag vs hard case
The free bag has to fit under the seat, so a soft bag that flexes into the space beats a rigid case of the same size. For the larger cabin bag, dimensions matter more than squish since it goes in the overhead locker.
Boarding tips
- Keep the free bag under the seat, not in the locker — that's the allowance you've paid for.
- A soft, low-profile bag fits the under-seat space more reliably than a boxy case.
- If you have a large-bag allowance, board promptly — a valid large bag can still go to the hold if lockers fill.
- Wear bulky layers and use jacket pockets to keep the bag within size.
